Iowa producer new NPPC president

An Iowa pork producer has been named president of the National Pork Producers Council.

Sam Carney from Adair was elected to the post for a one-year term at NPPC’s annual business meeting – the National Pork Industry Forum – March 6 in Kansas City, Mo.

Carney is owner and operator of Carney Farms, Inc., which he runs with his son, Randy. They market about 4,000 hogs annually from their wean-to-finish operation. They also have a cow-calf herd and raise corn, soybeans and hay.
